Transition PRocess
mission
The transition team led the congregation through a discernment process to clarify our mission statement.
And then list the new mission statement.
MISSION STATEMENT
We at Umstead Park United Church of Christ welcome and affirm all as we journey to seek the divine, to embody loving community, and to strive for justice as a progressive community of faith.
leadership
The Transition Team led the congregation to begin considering updates to our governance to right-size our lay leadership teams.
This summer the congregation was invited to a conversation with Rev. Adam Gray to learn about the governance changes made at the congregation where we serve.
Summary Video of Rev. Adam Gray's Visit
This Summer we joined together in imagining ways to be church in the years ahead. We took field trips to other churches to explore how other progressive communities of faith are structured and operate. View the summary of those visits below
connections
During this season, the Transition Team has been encouraging the congregation to engage with resources from the National Ministries of the UCC and to know more about our conference. Those links are below
During this stage of our Transition process, we will be providing opportunities to learn and think about how we would like to be in relationship with the wider UCC. Please join us for the Forum at 9am on October 6 for an opportunity to engage with Rev. Elizabeth Dilley from the National UCC. We will learn more about ways we might engage with the national church on issues that are important to us as a congregation and we will hear about updates to the Manual on Local Church.
